Climate Controlled Storage Units

Drive Up Storage Units

Drive-up storage is the fastest way to access your belongings. Just cruise down our wide driveways and pull up next to your storage unit. Roll up the door and you're ready to unload. These units are popular with anyone needing to access their unit frequently, including commercial customers.

Vehicle Storage

Whether it's kayaking on the Chattahoochee, camping in F.D. Roosevelt State Park or just tailgating at an Auburn football game, the area around Columbus lends itself to outdoor adventures. For those of you who need vehicle storage for your RV, boat, car or motorcycle, both Store Space locations in Columbus have you covered.

Car Storage

Take advantage of gated outdoor vehicle parking spaces for your extra cars or trucks.

Motorcycle Storage

Drive-up storage units are ideal for motorcycle storage. Most motorcycles can fit in a 5x10 unit, with plenty of room left over for your gear.

Boat Storage

Whether the Chattahoochee River brought you to Columbus, or you discovered it after you relocated here, there's a good chance you've spent some time on the water. If you fell in love with it, there's an even better chance that you've got a boat or personal watercraft of your own.

Boat storage typically requires outdoor storage to accommodate the height of most trailered boats. Some drive-up units can be used for low-profile boats like bass boats or smaller jet skis.

Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards can be stored in both drive-up or indoor storage units. Tip: Make sure you purchase (or build) supports to keep your investments off the floor and safe from warping or sagging.

RV Storage

Recreational vehicles are a great way to get out and explore but they can present storage problems when you're not on the road. The simple solution is finding a self-storage facility for your RV storage needs.

Outdoor, gated parking can accommodate trailers, campers, fifth wheels and RVs. Drive-up units can also be used, just be cognizant of your vehicle's overall height before renting.

What we Like About Columbus

When most people think of Columbus, they think of Fort Benning, the U.S. Army base associated with the region for more than a century. But the city is home to museums, cultural attractions and tourism sites, including the National Infantry Museum, historical sites, as well as the longest urban whitewater rafting course in the world, not to mention a plethora of outdoor activities.

So, get out and Visit Columbus!

Fort Benning

Long known as the United States Army's "Home of the Infantry," Fort Benning is now referred to as the Army's Maneuver Center of Excellence and is also home base for the Armor School, Infantry School, the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation as well as several brigades, Ranger regiments and more.

Founded as Camp Benning in 1918 after the conclusion of World War I, the fort now supports "more than 120,000 active-duty military, family members, reserve component soldiers, retirees and civilian employees on a daily basis," according to Wikipedia.

History

As an important stop on the Chattahoochee River and the entryway into Alabama, Columbus has been one of Georgia's most important cities since its founding in 1828. Columbus was an important industrial center during the Civil War and was also the site of the last battle in the conflict.

Historic Columbus has been key to revitalization and preservation efforts within the city. Their tour page offers virtual tours, in-depth information and walking guides for exploring more than 150 years of the city's history.

Don't miss the Black Heritage Trail, which connects about 30 African American heritage points of interest along 8 miles in Columbus, including the Ma Rainey Home, multiple AME and Baptist churches, a walk along brick streets laid by slaves, all the way to the Dillingham Street Bridge, which crosses the river into Alabama (and is the original site of a bridge built in 1838 by former slave Horace King).

Culture & Arts

In addition to the preservation and education efforts of Historic Columbus, the city embraces its past and future with multiple museums and art centers:

There are also several live performance venues in town, including the Columbus Civic Center, RiverCenter for the Performing ArtsSpringer Opera House, and The Bradley Theater.

Sports enthusiasts are well-acquainted with A. J. McClung Memorial Stadium, which has hosted epic football contests including the Pioneer Bowl (last held there in 2012), the Georgia/Auburn (last held there in 1958), and is currently home to clashes between Ft. Valley State – Albany State and Tuskegee – Morehouse.

Economy

According to data from 2017, Fort Benning is by far the area's largest employer, with nearly 39,000 employees. The Muscogee County School District is next with 6,300 employees, while TSYS and Aflac are both headquartered in Columbus, employing more than 3,000 each.

Education

Columbus State University is the city's major university, offering more than 85 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Noted are its MBA and servant-leadership programs.

The area is also home to Columbus Technical CollegeGeorgia Military College, as well as several private and for-profit universities including Strayer, University of Phoenix and more.

Auburn University is less than an hour away in nearby Auburn, Alabama. It's considered the top university in Alabama, a top 50 public university in the United States, as well as the best value in Alabama (U.S. News & World Report, Money). Plus, the Tigers.

Outdoor Activities

From kayaking and rafting to biking, walking and hiking, the Columbus area offers a wide range of outdoor activities.

The highlight of the city is its whitewater course on the Chattahoochee River which attracts rafters and kayakers from around the world. At 2.5 miles long, it's the longest urban whitewater rafting course in the world. It was even named Best Manmade Whitewater in 2013 by USA Today. The challenging course is not for beginners since it starts with five Class III rapids and includes a Class IV+ near the end. There are also two "park and play" put ins at Wave Shaper island or CutBait Rapid.

For those who prefer to keep dry land underneath their feet, the Chattahoochee RiverWalk is a 22-mile walking and biking area along the river, while the Columbus Fall Line Trace is an 11-mile fitness trail that runs between downtown and the northeast part of town.
