What we like about Loganville

Loganville is a small town in Walton County, located between Atlanta and Athens, Georgia. The city has even coined the tagline, “Where People Matter,” as a reminder that even though Loganville is constantly growing, it remains a hometown community.

Here are some of our favorite things about Loganville!

Past to Present

In the early 1800s, the present-day area of Loganville was called Buncombe. In 1842, James H. Logan arrived and settled there. He didn’t stay long, but the town was renamed in his honor in 1851.

The first town charter was issued in 1887, and the Loganville and Lawrenceville railroad arrived shortly after. The railroad brought growth to Loganville, but it didn’t last forever. It made its last run during the Great Depression.

Even though the railroad left Loganville, it has experienced steady population growth for the last few decades, increasing from about 5,400 residents in 2000 to more than 14,000 in 2020.

Education

The city is served by both Gwinnett County Public Schools and Walton County Schools, and offers several highly rated education centers.

Located in nearby Athens, the University of Georgia was chartered in 1785,, making it one of the oldest universities in the state. The university currently offers programs in 18 schools and colleges, and has been ranked in the top 20 for best public universities multiple times.

Loganville is also near Gwinnett Technical College and Athens Technical College.

Parks and Recreation

If you want to enjoy the weather in Loganville, get outside and experience one of the many parks and outdoor opportunities in the area.

Head over to Meridian Park and Recreation Center to walk or run around the lake, enjoy a picnic or check out the new community center. West Walton Park offers athletics fields, picnic areas and walking paths, and Vines Park features a beautiful community garden.

Loganville also has a premier golf course at Cedar Lake. Enjoy a day on the green, take golf lessons or check out their pro shop to get some new merchandise.

You can find even more outdoor experiences in the surrounding areas of Lawrenceville and Snellville.

To Do Around Town

There’s always something to do in Loganville. Catch a concert, attend a festival and even do some shopping right in town!

The Loganville Town Green is a popular spot to catch outdoor movies and summer concerts. The city also offers many other events from cook-offs to car shows.
