What we like about Fall River

Just 25 minutes away from the capital of Rhode Island, Fall River, Massachusetts, is a key member of the Providence Metropolitan Area and the 11th-largest city in the Greater Boston CSA (combined statistical area).

Once a textile hub, Fall River has been reinventing itself during the last couple of decades. While still nowhere near its zenith of 120,000 residents a century ago, the population has climbed in the last few years, now topping 90,000.

Part of the comeback can be attributed to downtown revitalization efforts, a resurgence of the arts, as well as newer development in the north part of town. Add to that a rich multicultural background, plus the Lizzy Borden House and Battleship Cove and you can see why Fall River is still an important player on Massachusetts’ South Coast.

While still slightly higher than the national cost of living average, Fall River is one of the least expensive places to live in Massachusetts, with housing and transportation costs below the statewide average.
